What Is Ontological Shock?
Ontological shock is the disorientation and confusion that arises when an experience challenges or subverts one's fundamental assumptions about reality and existence, leading to a questioning of one's worldview.
How Might Ontological Shock Occur?
Being exposed to too much to fast. Lucky for us our friends seem to control what/when/how we are exposed to data. I believe this is done in order to 'lift us up' as well as analyse the results. This is not to say we won't be 'shocked' by some experiences/information, but it may be on a more processable scale.
Face to Face Contact
So what happens when you get outta bed to go use the bathroom and there's an unknown entity standing across the room from you? That depends on many many factors!! Your ability to overcome fight/flight. Your ability to be open. Your preparation ...
How Does Contact Occur and The Reprocusions?
As has been said by others previously, we are connected to everything, as are NHI. When contact with a NHI occurs, YOU, or what you believe to be you is completely stripped away and laid bare. Your deepest held feelings/thoughts/secrets down to the last molecule are exposed and known to them in totality. Are you prepared for that? Are your friends/ neighbours / colleagues? I dare say most people would not be able to go around their everyday lives continuing the simulation.
In time and with PRACTICE we can learn to control our thoughts/connections to a degree (although Im sure our NHI friends can still read us like a book). We must work beyond fear/shame to move on. I believe P mentioned that they use a combination of blocks/technology to stop intrusions.
This all encompassing connection is why they use the universal language, telepathy. It conveys a depth of communication that words cannot. Thoughts/colours/emotions/meaning all in an instant. When the civilization types were described recently, I'd be interested to know if they ALL use this universal language?
I feel a bit of a fraud writing about this as to my knowledge have never had contact. But I have imagined it. Repeatedly and in depth. Through this process alone I have evolved my understanding and preparedness.

This is also how telepathy works, you can see people’s deepest emotions/thoughts instantly, so these are already out there lol. Part of one ontological shock for me years ago initially came when I realized thoughts were everywhere!
