Before I talk about the main subject, I wanted to discuss the Ra Contact/The Law of One with respect to Prudence’s messages. As mentioned in community members’ questions, they share similarities around the core message. Namely, that All is One. Some other examples include:
the notion of existence emanating from a singular source: “Great Central Sun” (Ra 37.8) or a “Grand Central Singularity (JRP). Conveniently both GCS :)
that Love is a fundamental essence of being/reality
that there are souls from outside Earth that have incarnated on this planet to be of spiritual assistance: “wanderers” (Ra 36.16) or “alien souls” (JRP)
A difference I noticed: In the Ra Contact, Ra describes a “harvest” that is a spiritual ascension/transition that occurs every ~25,000 years (Ra 6.15), and this harvest event transpires over a period of 100-700 years (Ra 40.8). I believe prudence wrote in a Q&A that this transition was continually happening (I can’t find the quote). Prudence (or community), do you have any comment on what Ra was trying to say? One interpretation I have: souls/spirits can ascend/evolve at any time, but there are natural cycles where it is more likely to happen for whatever reason.
Thank you for reading my little introduction. On to the heart of this post.
One thing Ra talks about at length is the notion of service. Service is a way for us/the Creator to know itself and is key to spiritual evolution. Service is usually discussed in terms of a positive or negative polarization. I.e., “service to others” is positive and “service to self” as the negative. But this is an apparent duality that seems to contradict the core message that All is One. And Prudence has made clear he does not support “positive/negative crap” :p
Since the idea of service resonates strongly with me, I’ve been meditating on this concept and wanted to share my thoughts on how I make sense of it. A solution to the apparent paradox of duality is that both positive and negative paths lead to the same destination (the source), and that since the self is the other—or as Ra sometimes calls them, the other-self (5.2)—they are effectively the same. Some people use “service to all” as a way to describe the positive path. I like this framing because it includes the self with the other. This notion in turn allows me to imagine Service as a range (zero to one) of sorts: when serving just oneself there is less total Service than when serving the self AND others.
When Ra talks about service it’s usually in reference to a concept of “polarity” in consciousness. When we make the choice to be of service (to the self/other), we are better understanding ourselves as the Creator and become more “polarized” with respect to our conscious choices.
When asked about a “a more complete or eloquent or enlightening definition” of polarity, Ra says essentially that they use the service to self/other notion “due to the nature of [humans’] distortions towards perceiving concepts relating to philosophy in terms of ethics or activity” (93.3). And Ra seems to suggest that neither path is any more good or bad than the other when they use a physical analogy and say that “it is impossible to judge the relative goodness of the negative and positive poles or a magnet” (also 93.3).
I like this magnetic analogy for polarization in Service and want to extend it a bit. When a permanent magnet (which has its own magnetic field) is in the presence of a larger magnetic field (such as Earth’s), it will experience a force that will push it into alignment with the greater field (like a compass needle finds North). If that needle is demagnetized, it will experience less or no force aligning it with Earth and will spin randomly. And if the needle is magnetized oppositely, it will point South (which to certain customs/expectations would be considered “wrong” but would still be aligned).
So when we are polarized in our consciousness, we are aligning our spirits with a greater (soul) field. While some individuals are strongly polarized to be of Service (note: Service I consider to be an active form of Love), most of us are not so polarized, and therefore as a collective our magnetization/polarization is relatively low. But, as more and more are opened to the idea of Oneness and the nature of Love, we as a people/collective/”social complex” become essentially a bigger magnet—just as physical magnets are themselves composed of grains/cells of miniature magnet. And as We collectively experience a stronger pull on/by the soul field, We as a society will become less chaotic and more unified in a single direction—the direction of Love.
So, this is all to say that what might appear as a positive/negative duality in the Ra Contact, arises from the use of service as a way to understand the nature of the self/Creator, that the positive and negative paths may be opposites in directions (at least at first) but equally lead to the Creator/source, and that making the choice to Serve/Love is what brings us into alignment with our higher selves.
Thank you all for your time and attention. I would love to hear your thoughts.
You're a wonderful writer and I really hope to see more from you, you are quite funny! I really love what you are onto there! I get so so much more out of life when I think of it like it's not duality, and when I help others it makes me happier than focusing on myself. In fact, helping others is a great part of my purpose in all this. It is where I find fulfillment in myself and with my life and choices. I really love how you said all of this! Keep it up, and take care!
