The World Wide Web was introduced into the public domain in 1993 having originally been developed in 1989. Although the web is NOT the Internet, which is an underlying structure it is a means essentially to interact/share information in the form of web pages.
Its mass uptake by the world has brought both developmental advantages and disadvantages. I would like to highlight some of the pitfalls in brief and how one might protect themselves from becoming caught in the web.
Now im not saying the web was originally designed to trap people, but like all media CAN and has been used to this end. Let me show you how easy it can be. For those of a conspiracy orientated mind - WWW (world wide web) = 23 23 23 = 69. Balance? Infinity? All kinds of made up nonsense can be made from the simplest of things.
If you can think it, it's likely already out there on the web. If you are a naturally curious person you could spend as much time as you could afford researching a topic. But as is the nature of a web, you can become entangled. Topics lead to other topics which lead to other topics. Fact and fiction become blurry if you do not apply proper discernment and critical thinking. The web can spiral (much like a real web).
Trauma in your life leading to emotional wounds can easily be filled with a plethora of fictional/true/malicious material. As can your desire for meaning and absolute truth. The web runs deep. The topics to explore have many arms and legs. I have seen many people become lost, irrational even making life changing decisions based on the void they have convinced themselves is there.
So How Do We Protect Ourselves?
As I keep harping on, it's about balance. Stay balanced and you build a resistance.
Balance through appropriate discernment.
Balance through critical thinking.
Balance through abandonment of beliefs in place of TRUTH.
Truth is truth. Irrefutable. Beliefs are a crutch, a temporary bandaid. Be open to new ideas and theories, never hold absolute stead fast to old beliefs. Be open to change. But ALWAYS approach with a critical mind. Never stop (not that many can actually stop if they actually wanted) in the pursuit of truth.
I've been fortunate enough to navigate beliefs for years now where others have fallen. But I have come close before. The search for TRUTH goes on ....
Kindest Regards

The www is the result of technology(language at its origin) that is more or less a replacement to our (mankind/walking apes) origional concsiousness pre history, our shamanistic understanding of the interconnectedness of ALL. Instead of looking in for the answers we now look out. I'm begining to think this is one of the choices we all face. Do we choose technology and resulting advances like space flight etc, or donwe choose a return to the old ways of living in tune with nature, more like the animals we truly are? Idk just thoughts with room to grow
