"Will power means freedom. Will power means heaven" - Paramahansa Yogananda
In our media we often see a common theme/trope among movies, TV shows, songs, and even video games: it is a theme of will power trumping all; in these forms of media we generally see will as one of enduring and persevering. One which remains unbroken, unwavering despite the strifes, hardships, pains, struggles, nor the sufferings of life. Throughout us all echoes this unbreakableness; this piece of us that is unyielding.
No matter how small the piece, it is there. It is apart of our Divinity, or Essence, if you Will. Life in all its forms is inherently Willful; when left to their devices flora and fauna overtake cities; plants slowly grow, breaking through streets, buildings, and even vehicles. Animals use their strength and will to place themselves in the food chain, making the wild a test of will and survival. Water breaks through rock and sediment, carving it's own will into mountains and ruins.
Through Life comes the strengthening and tempering of one's Will: through experience we grow. In attempts to grow and temper us, Life will throw us tests, strife, pain. Opportunities to transcend who we once were; Opportunities to reap the benefits of our Essence.
The Spectrum Of Will: Ego vs Absolute/Divinity.
As many of us know, Will exists on a spectrum. On one side of the spectrum exists wills such as: survival, procreation/legacy passing, wealth accumulation, resource/territory plundering, and many more. Often, these are the wills of Egos, excaberated and intensified when one is in a state of disharmony/separation. On the opposite side of the spectrum exists what I call Divine Will. It is one of Absoluteness, creation, and harmony. Unlike the Ego's Will, Divine Will isn't uncertain, swayable, or easily manipulated. I also call it Absolute Will in my head, though Divine Will may fit better for other's as the word absolute entails that it wants to take control.
Absolute Will: Utilization and Development.
Absolute Will is best used, understood, and experienced when one has transcended duality, when one is in a state of oneness. When we're aware of the non-duality of it All is when we're most empowered: Realizing and being truly aware of the One Spirit in people, animals, and everything to and fro (even physical non-sentient things) keeps us in a state of harmony, bliss, and creation. It allows us to further utilize our Will within us in the forms of manifestation/psionics/divination/healing/guidance/or really anything you can think about if one's Will is strong/absolute enough.
Now, the reason being in a state of oneness is often crucial to utilize and apply one's Divine Will is due to the fact that it keeps us, our thoughts, feelings, and overall awareness from being distorted/polluted. For our inner will to be fully utilized we must first be free; nothing should bog us down, whether it be the thoughts/expectations of others or ourself (negatively), how others view us, internalized negative feelings/thoughts/fears or the way our parents/family/friends/school/district/city/county/state/country/society program us. We must be firm in what we know, but also flexible and open to Truth; always transcending; always growing. Know what you really, truly desire.
When utilizing our Will there shouldn't be any uncertainty; say, for example, I manifested the growth of my musical creativities and skills. I cannot allow pollutants such as "I'm unsure if manifestation is actually real, what if I make myself look like a fool?", or "Do I really have the ability to make music?" as stuff of this nature creates the paradox of self-limitation: yes, you are so powerful you can limit yourself via your own power, making you believe you are unworthy, or weak, or shallow, or bad, or negative, or whatever else you make yourself believe. This is why I, personally, do not align my identity with or subscribe to any specific term/word/religion or anything of that sort, keeping myself child-like (curious, open. A clear sky.) and also a reason for why Prudence stresses void meditation: it allows one to recognize their being, giving them pure sovereignty over their soul field/spirit/thoughts/feelings/desires/will. This is why I use the term 'Absolute' Will in my mind, as it's helped me become firmer in using it: I went from faith in my ability to knowing my ability, which in our Essence seems to be infinite. Our Will allows us to experience 'heaven' or 'hell' depending on what it is fed/willed/given; it all depends on our focal point of awareness, what we give attention and intention towards.
Common Mediums
As Prudence has stated, and what I have experienced on my own, is that indeed anything can be a medium. As said, what matters is the intention/will behind the medium and it's utilization. Here's a list of some common mediums.
Visualization/Mind (A favorite of mine.)
This one is particularly useful for those who are very imaginative/daydreamy. I use it for most of the things I do and find it highly versatile and reliable.
Cards (Major/Minor Arcana, poker cards, monopoly cards, whatever cards you want)
You'll find that Cards are often used for divination, most commonly prophesyzing/attainment of knowledge of the unknown.
Prayer
Often used for manifestation/wishing, divination, or guidance. I've found prayer to be very versatile, though I've moved away from it.
Crystals/Devices
Most commonly used for application of certain effects/attributes onto being (healing, protection, clarity, etc)
Spells/Casting/Words
Used for many things (not quite well versed); your understanding/interpretation of the spell words and it's effects influence the intention behind the spell.
Thought/Self Affirmation
Though, this kind of medium might as well be included in Mind, I have decided to put it in it's own category due to me using my thoughts to boost my potency/awareness/psionics
Thank you for this post! I want to share that it prompted a deep hour long discussion with my roommate. We talked about why it's harder to accept flaws in ourselves vs in others (discussing how accepting them in ourselves feels like "giving up" on fixing them, but really acceptance gives them room to change). And we also talked about how we're both finally in a good space to start focusing on the things we really care about and make the changes we want to make in more loving ways.
