To help visualise 'balance', imagine a long strand or thread pulled taught between two points.
If we introduce an external force to this thread we disturb it from its balanced state. Disharmony creates ripples. It creates an unevenness. It can create ups/downs, peaks and troughs. Depending on the disturbance caused, the thread may return back to its natural taught state or forever have waves/slack or be snapped altogether.
What is meant by living ones life in balance?
The Scales of Maat, (Image above), depict ones heart (conscience) being weighed against the feather to determine ones destination onwards into the afterlife. If your heart was lighter or in balance with the feather you have essentially led a 'good' life and were permitted into the afterlife, or if your heart was heavier than the feather you were cast down to be devoured by Ammit. Maat was a concept of life in Egypt in which a person considered their everday actions effecting Truth, Justice, Order, Harmony, Law, Morality and Balance.
These concepts, or elements of, are present in most societies/religions and orders across the planet, and probably beyond. (The judgement/heaven/hell are direct lifts from ancient Egypt but used more in a manner to control a person's actions/behaviour as in DO this or you'll piss off God. Here's a helpful reminder - only you will judge you. You are the person in the mirror. You can't lie to your true self. No need for fear.
The issue with 'scales' however, we as a collective species are not all using the same Set (pun intended) which results in disharmony between "different" people's/groups/orders.
How do we balance the world?
Balance yourself. Raindrops are required to form the largest rivers and oceans. You are a raindrop connected to all. You do not need to be more.
How do you 'find/create' balance?
Well this is the big question isn't it. You have an inbuilt 'moral' compass. Right/wrong is a scale. You know basically what actions you perform and where they might tip the Scales. However, do not live your life constantly worrying if you are too far 'negative' or too far 'poitive' (yes thats a thing!). Worry/fear like many things create feedback loops. The feedback builds and can become overwhelming. Recognise these loops/patterns when they happen and reset. Bring yourself back to centre. The more you recognise these disturbances/patterns the more immunity/resistance you build. Take time for yourself. Meditate. The more you know yourself the 'higher' you will become. You will float above the disturbances and disharmony.
Be at peace. Be at centre. Listen to your true self. Don't beat yourself up. You may get knocks. Your string may undulate and you find yourself in a peak or a trough but you will get to your destination. It's inevitable. The more you realise your balance point, the easier it is to return to that state.
Kind Regards
An excellent thread that deserves to be pinned.
